Step-by-step instructions
Preparation
- Wash your hands thoroughly before removing the protective films.
- Make sure the skin around the knee is clean and dry. Do not use body lotion or oil.
- If necessary, remove any hair around the knee to improve adhesion.
- Touch the adhesive surface as little as possible.
- Remove both Knee Flex-Braces from the packaging.
Applying the Knie Flex-Brace
First Knie Flex-Brace
- Carefully remove the protective film from the rounded centre section and apply it to the lower part of the kneecap.
- Remove the protective film from the left flap, stretch it by approximately 25% and apply it upwards in a curved line along the left side of the knee. Secure the end at the top.
- Repeat the same process with the right flap and apply the end over the left flap.
Second Knie Flex-Brace — mirrored position
- Place the rounded centre section above the kneecap, over the first brace.
- Stretch both flaps by approximately 25% and apply them downwards along the sides of the knee, over the first flaps.
Important
Press the flaps down firmly to create double compression and centred pressure around the knee. It may feel slightly unusual at first.
Care and removal
- After showering, gently pat the brace dry.
- The brace is easiest to remove in the shower. Wet the brace and gently peel it off.
Important tips
Skin irritation and itching
- Mild redness, itching or a burning sensation may occur due to friction, pressure, moisture or sensitive skin.
- Remove the brace after 2–3 days to help prevent irritation.
- If irritation occurs, wait until the skin has fully recovered before applying a new brace.
Tips to reduce itching
- Keep the brace dry by gently patting it with a towel or by using a hairdryer on a low or cool setting to dry the knee.
Allergic reaction
- Stop using the brace immediately if redness, a rash or severe irritation occurs. Consult a doctor if necessary.
How does the Knie Flex-Brace work?
By placing one brace below and one brace above the knee joint, the following effects are created:
- Upward compression — from bottom to top
- Downward compression — from top to bottom
Together, these forces provide extra stability around the knee.
Scientific evidence
Studies published in journals including Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy show that knee braces can provide compressive support and may help reduce pain.
Important safety advice
- Do not use if you are allergic to silicone.
- Do not apply to open wounds or severely irritated skin.
- Flex-Brace is intended for single use only. Reuse is not recommended.
- During normal daily use, the brace will usually stay in place for an average of 2–3 days. This may be shorter during intensive sports activities.
- The brace is water-repellent and can be worn while showering or swimming. Gently pat dry after use.
